‘An Amazing Experience!’ This is one of the many expressions of admiration and excitement that has greeted recent events at Turi Children’s Project – TCP.

Yes, after over two years of planning, fundraising and prayer, from February 4th 2013 the first 60 children came to take part in an exciting programme of events. Games, crafts, music, Bible study, sport, worship and, of course, food!
A team of 18 sixth form students from Elizabeth College, Guernsey, were on hand to not only join in with the fun but to build an amazing adventure playground for the children to use. Led by their teacher Mr Jon Shaw (an ex-Turi teacher himself) and two colleagues, this extra help boosted the excitement levels and meant that for a week it was one big party!
The Party was joined by pupils and students from St Andrew’s School Turi, together with other St Andrew’s staff running craft workshops and joining in the sport and fun and games. Please browse the photos to give you some idea of the range of activities that have been on offer.
One of the most exciting developments has been our team of ‘volunteers’ from local churches and the community. Seven of these people have agreed to work for the project on a small salary, so please welcome Timothy, our team leader, Francis, Rose, Martha, Sarah, Charity and Peter, who are running the programme every weekday afternoon from 4.00 pm until 6.00pm at present.
We are looking for sponsors to cover their salary each month. If this is something you feel you would be able to do please do set up a standing order on our UK bank account (details of the account on the ‘donate’ pages) If you would like to have a personal link with one of our team, a monthly donation of £30 or more will be allocated to one specific member who you will be able to make contact with. In the meantime, please do continue to pray for the future development of the project, especially for wisdom to the TCP management committee as they plan future directions.
